Here Comes the Sun…

Posted on 12th March 2010 by DeLynn Rizzo in Uncategorized

Hey Girls,
I hope you are enjoying this gorgeous spring weather!!  It’s so good to see the sun again after so many cold, rainy days!  And the weather is not the only thing to smile about…
Healing Place Women meets THIS SUNDAY!!

Invite your girlfriends and come spend some great time in amazing worship and fellowship with other HP Chicks.  The service will start Sunday evening at 6:30 pm.  There will be a light snack and pampering at 6:00 pm.   Childcare will be provided for ages 0-11.  This is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and be refreshed, so you won’t want to miss it!

I am so excited that the new Healing Place Arena will soon be open, and we are doing everything to prepare for that day.  This Saturday morning — from 9 to 11 am — there will be a training session, inside the arena, for all staff and volunteers.  If you serve in any capacity, or would like to, please make the effort to attend this very important training!

You know, part of being daughters of the King is bringing His light to those who are going through a dark time in their lives.  We want to be shining examples of Christ’s love and reach out to those who are hurting or in need of help.

There is an opportunity, right now, where YOU can be that light.  A sweet lady named Shannon, is going through a pretty rough time right now with chemotherapy.  We would like to provide her and her daughter with meals to help them each week, for a while.  There are two ways in which you can help:

* Purchase a gift card or cards (from Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) to help with groceries, or a restaurant gift card to cover the cost of a meal.  Bring your gift card(s) to HP Women this Sunday night so we can bless her with these.

* OR you can sign up to bring a meal through our Helps ministry.  Perhaps you even feel like you could commit to bringing a meal on a regular basis…  Either way, just contact the Helps coordinator, Becky Smith, and let her know what you can do.  You can email Becky at rhodessmithr@cox.net or contact Terri at (225) 753-2273 ext. 266.

I can’t wait to see your beautiful, shining faces this Sunday night!!!

XOXO,

ARISE 2010 Conference & Autism Awareness

Posted on 6th March 2010 by DeLynn Rizzo in Uncategorized

Guess where I’m going to be next week???

I have the great honor & privilege of speaking at the Arise 2010 Women’s Conference at Our Savior’s Church in Lafayette, LA.  Michelle Aranza — who has been a guest speaker for Healing Place Women — is hosting this amazing event and it’s not too late for you to register!

Simply go to the ARISE 2010 website and click on the “Register” link at the top.  The conference takes place from March 11th through March 13th.  You can register for individual sessions or the full conference.  There is even a group option!  It would be awesome if you could attend this conference, girls!  I know you would love it and I would love seeing you there!!!

Girls, there is another special opportunity I want to mention…  Did you know that our governor has declared the month of April as “Autism Awareness Month”?  Well, there is a precious young lady named Mila who serves, faithfully, on the HP Kids Worship Team and a support team has been formed for her at the Inaugural Greater Baton Rouge Autism Awareness Walk & Fun Day.  This awesome event will take place on Saturday, March 20th, and our very own Cooking For Christ will be serving up the Jambalaya!

Girls, we need more volunteers to sign up to walk in honor of Mila!!  It’s sure to be great fun and it’s for an important cause…  If you would like to support Mila, just go to: Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge to register!

Friendship, Faith, & Favor!

Posted on 25th February 2010 by DeLynn Rizzo in Uncategorized

Hey Beautiful Girls,

Wasn’t Elizabeth’s message on “Embracing Friendships”  just so awesome, Sunday night?  I hope you took some good notes!!  As women, we can never underestimate the power of friendships.  If you missed it — or you’d like to hear it again — you can!   This Friday at 8 pm, you can watch the service from this past Sunday night online, and there will even be an interactive chat room so you can discuss the message with your girlfriends!  To join in, simply go to http://online.healingplacechurch.org a little ahead of time (before 8:00) and click on the link for “HP Women Online Special Event.”

Girls, I know your hearts — like mine — have been broken for the impoverished nation of Haiti.  There’s great pain in that broken country right now and still so much that needs to be done.  We must hold out faith for those who have lost it.  It may be that you have considered going on a missions trip there, possibly this year…  I want to let you know about an important training event which you must attend in order to participate in any HPC Missions trip.  Whether you are interested in going to Haiti or Africa, or anywhere else, you will need to attend the HPC Global Workshop which is being held this Saturday from 9 AM-12 PM in the Highland sanctuary.  There, you will learn everything you need to know in order to participate in these amazing outreaches.

And let’s not forget:  This weekend is our annual Kingdom Builder’s Commitment Weekend!!  I am so excited about all of us coming together to pledge our support for God’s house!  We have been shown amazing favor during this time of growth, and I just know that God has even more in store for us as we prepare to move into our new building.  And you definitely won’t want to miss the announcement for our move-in dates & spring services schedule!  This is what we have been believing for, girls!  Pray about your own family’s Kingdom Builders pledge for 2010 and come ready to celebrate God’s goodness and blessings upon our church!

Love you all,

DeLynn

Hi Girls,

I hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day!!

As you already know, the heart of our church is to serve, and there is a tremendous need for volunteers to help with our Healing Hearts Ministry.  This is the home for young, unwed mothers which gives them time and a place to get on their feet and grow strong in the Lord.  Right now, Healing Hearts has a full household, and they could really use some help in various areas.  Please check out the list of needs below and see if there is anything you could possibly provide.

Healing Hearts Needs:

  • Size 3T clothing for little girls

  • Temporary childcare for Heidi’s twin girls (she will have childcare within a month)

  • Heidi (mother of twin girls) needs a job between the hours of 7 Am - 6 PM

  • Ladies to drive our girls to and from school, GED classes, & general outings

  • Money for childcare

Everything you give is tax-deductible & greatly appreciated!!!

Secure In His Goodness

Posted on 4th February 2010 by DeLynn Rizzo in Uncategorized

Sometimes it seems like everything happens at once.  Bills are due, the kids are sick, the car breaks down…  The pressures of life and attacks from the enemy threaten to overwhelm us.  But this doesn’t have to be the case, girls!  In Psalms 117 & 118, God’s Word promises that the Lord is always with us and “His love endures forever.” He is our strength and our song; no matter what the world dishes out, we are secure in His goodness.  The burdens of today will become the testimonies of our tomorrow!  You can rest in that!

TODAY, start thanking God and giving Him praise for His goodness.  Even in the midst of the madness, thank Him for His faithfulness & know that He is your protection and peace.

Girls, I want to let you know about another exciting opportunity for you.  Nationally known speaker, author, and singer — Jennifer Rothschild — will be holding a women’s conference in New Orleans this spring!  This event from Fresh Grounded Faith will feature such special guests as: Lisa Welchel, former television actress-turned-author and local news anchor and author, Sally Ann Roberts.  Also featured are worship leader, Alicia Williamson Garcia and recording artist, Michael O’Brien!

This amazing event will take place April 9-10, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of New Orleans.  Tickets can be purchased online through the First Baptist Church website or by mail.  Group tickets are also available for purchase.  For more details, go HERE and then click on the “New Orleans, LA” link in the left sidebar.  Refresh your spirit & enjoy great fellowship with other Christian women from our area.  Register today to ensure you have a seat!

I will see you all at the next Healing Place Women on February 21st!

It’s Christmas at HPC!

Posted on 16th December 2009 by DeLynn Rizzo in Uncategorized

Hey sweet girls,
How is your Christmas season going so far? Are you enjoying these special moments or are you frazzled beyond belief?  I am trying to savor every second I can!

Wasn’t the Healing Place Women Christmas Party spectacular?? I thought the “elf” photos were too funny! Did you have your picture made with a friend? You can check out all of the great photos from the HP Women Christmas Party here:

I just want to remind you all to take time out to remember what this season is truly about… Don’t get so caught up in the hustle & bustle that you forget to have fun! And to make your Christmas even more special, I want to encourage each and every one of you to participate in one of our Christmas outreaches through Healing Place Church! There are 3 different ways you can reach out to others this Christmas:

1) You can drop off a NEW, unwrapped toy at the Highland church office to give to some precious child this weekend. Make sure you drop off your donation no later than Friday!

2) You can “sponsor” a child this Christmas for a mere $15 and ensure they receive a gift during a time when they might not receive much else. Simply make your check out to HPC & put “Christmas Sponsor” in the memo field.

3) Last, but not least, you can bring the spirit of Christmas to the children of the inner city by volunteering at either of our two Dream Center Christmas celebrations. If you would like to help with the Baton Rouge Dream Center celebration, simply arrive at the BRDC by 8:30 am THIS Saturday, December 19th. If you would prefer to volunteer with the Donaldsonville Dream Center, just show up there for 10:00 this Saturday morning. Bring the whole family & help make Christmas special for those in need!

Dino & I just want to say how special you are to us, & we want to wish you & your family a VERY Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
